The management of State military forests behaved like a private company

Bratislava, March 27, 2020 - Military forests and property as a State-owned enterprise did not procure according to law, and in several cases, the managers of the State-owned company behaved as if they were running a private company. The Supreme Audit Office of the Slovak Republic (SAO SR) audit that assessed the period 2016 – 2019, confirmed the Public Procurement Office (ÚVO) suspicions.

The auditors found several violations of the rules for public procurement, the Act on Free Access to Information, but also, for example, the purposeful change of the founding charter of a State-owned enterprise. Military forests contracted the legal services or a public procurement contractor without competition. The SAO SR recommended changes to the Military Forests that would lead to legal and transparent procurement, but also to a better setting of internal control.
