The path to better Slovak education through teachers´ higher financial motivation

Bratislava, January 17, 2020 - In a few years, Slovakia will need tens of thousands of teachers, but even today, there is a risk of recruiting new teachers due to their insufficient financial motivation.

The SAO SR analysed the remuneration of teachers and points out that salary conditions are one of the key factors influencing young people's interest in the teaching profession. According to the Audit Office analysts, the situation is particularly serious in the Bratislava Region, where teachers' salaries reach only 60% of the average regional salary of university-educated employees.
