Slovak auditors will chair EUROSAI, their head will become the first vice-president

Bratislava, 28 May 2024 - The Supreme Audit Office of the Slovak Republic is facing the biggest challenge in its 30-year history. From 2027, it will chair EUROSAI, the European organisation of national audit offices, which brings together 51 members (50 national audit offices and the European Court of Auditors). EUROSAI's online congress today endorsed the candidacy of the Supreme Audit Office (SAO) of the Slovak Republic for the presidency for the years 2027-2030.

The President of the SAO of the SR Ľubomír Andrassy, who also became the first Vice President, thanked the representatives of the other audit institutions for their trust.

"We applied for support with the slogan Sustainability and Support for Diversity. I hope that we will be able to develop activities at the international level that will help in addressing these areas," emphasized Ľ. Andrassy. He also added that "he sees the election as the presidency as a challenge to the Office's interior that, thanks to international cooperation, we will be able to set up processes for the evaluation of public policies and for the efficiency and effectiveness of the use of public funds at the highest international level in terms of quality and professionalism." It will also be a challenge to all SAO staff to make the office an agent of change in society and an inspiration as a well-managed model state institution.

The three-year presidency of Israel, which has taken over from the Czech Republic, is now about to begin. At the same time, the Slovak National Authority for External Auditing has become a member of the EUROSAI Board of Directors for nine years, and at different stages, the SAO President will hold different positions. For the first three years, he will currently hold the post of first vice-president, then during his presidency, the head of the SAO will also be the chairman of the EUROSAI Board of Directors, and subsequently he will hold the position of second vice-president.
